Here is a great series explainubg the processes of DNA replication, transcription and translation. See if you can explain these events in your own words after viewing all parts of this series.. Some important points to remember prior to viewing the videos are:
DNA Replication- is an essential event that occurs prior to the cell dividing.
DNA Transcription- Leads to the production of messenger RNA (mRNA). As a protective mechanism, it is "capped and tailed" before leaving the nuclear pore to be translated in the cytoplasm.
DNA Translation- Involves the key players of rRNA and tRNA. The ribosomal RNA literally "reads" the messenger RNA strand. It reads each set of 3 codons that make up a code. Transfer RNA adds the appropriate Amino Acid that is unique for each code. The Amino Acids are united and form a long chain.
*As you learned from previous chapters, a long chain of Amino Acids make what is known as a protein.

Genetics is defined as the study of heredity and hereditary variation. Heredity is defined as the transmission of traits from one generation to the next. Also known as Inheritance.
